E-Governance is the key requirement to transform India from a developing country to a developed nation. Digital India, an ambitious project of the government, is a major step in this direction. Unveiled in July 2015, it is being coordinated by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and implemented by the entire government. It aims to connect various government projects and provide e-services to Indian citizens at one place. A number of innovative applications like MyGov, e-Scholarship, e-Basta, Digilocker, e-Sign, e-Hospital, Jeevan Pramaan and many more allow citizens and businesses to access government information and services leading to greater public participation in government decision making. It utilizes new technologies to enable change and bring transformation. Hence, it is a step towards green governance where the government departments and public is linked digitally.
We are a team of ten students and three faculty members from Department of Computer Science and Department of Commerce who are working on an Interdisciplinary DU Innovation Project 2015-16 ANDC-307 “Digital India: Challenges & Opportunities” under the mentorship of an eminent Professor from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi.
The aim of the project has been to spread awareness about various initiatives launched by Government of India under Digital India Programme. The extent to which various e-services started under the initiatives have been utilized by the citizens and the major barriers and challenges restricting their utilization.
In order to aware the masses about e-services a user friendly Android APP – Ankiya, has been developed by the project team. It can be easily installed on any device running android 4.0 and above versions. It provides a common platform for displaying information related to Nine e-Services of Digital India program covered under the project. The APP is special in the sense that it explains the steps to access nine services in a simple and lucid way at one place. It covers the following information about each e-service:
• Description of the e-Service
• User steps to access the service
• What's new in the service
We hope that this App will help in popularizing Digital India initiative.

- Ankiya will be downloaded onto your device, displaying a progress. Once the download completes, the installation will start and you'll get a notification after the installation is finished.
